In Parting Glass

In Parting Glass is the title of the collaboration between choreographer Riccardo Buscarini and visual artist Richard Taylor. The two artists worked together for the first time, transforming the glass cabinets in Summerhall’s Laboratory Gallery into living archives to explore memory, intimacy and exposure. Paired by curator Holly Knox Yeoman, the duo used a magpie approach to draw from their personal experiences and cultural identities to mix ready-made objects, sculpture and sound to partner live and recorded performances.

Once Upon Us

Once Upon Us is a composite art project by Francesca Lando/Immuto collective in collaboration with sound artist Alessandro Baldessari, choreographer Riccardo Buscarini and Queen Mary University of London.

Inspired by the latest medical research on how our environment influences our genetic expression and how memories could move across generations through DNA coding, Once Upon Us explores the blurring boundaries of our individuality across space and time.

The project consisted in 3 parts: a participatory and sensory installation playing with our sense of space and Self, a conversation about the interplay of ancient and new theories on the theme of ancestral memory, a participatory sculptural installation questioning how our choices shape our relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

Where and when do we start? Where and when do we end? Are the boundaries of who we are really as defined in time and space as we think?
