Blur is a dance installation developed by Riccardo Buscarini in the frame of the European research project Performing Gender on the themes of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Sometimes seducing his audience, sometimes crying for help as a monstrous creature stuck in a deadly trap, a man wrapped in a huge fishing net repeatedly sings a XVI century love pavane.

Contrasting concepts of ambiguity and seduction, authority and submission, exposure and intimacy, fragility and abduction come together in the work as Buscarini deals with gender and sexuality as unstable and shifting subjects where no fixed categories are possible.

Blur was produced by Comitato Provinciale Arcigay Il Cassero/Gender Bender Festival, Nederlandse Dans Dagen / Dutch Dance Festival, Domino Association Zagreb, Paso a 2 Certamen Coreográfico Madrid, CSC Centro per la Scena Contemporanea Bassano del Grappa. Premiered at MAMbo, Museum of Modern Art of Bologna/IT in October 2014. www.performinggender.eu
